My recent travel to South East Asia gave me the opportunity to recover from the stressful year and space to think and plan for the upcoming one.
I took a lot of time to think about personal growth and development. During my trip I refrained to absorb any kind of news or spending too much time on the internet, instead I did a lot of reading and getting inspiration from different people & cultures.
I came to realize that in order to make profound changes in my life and become a better designer/entrepreneur/person, it is not essential to read all possible blogs and books about design & technology and trying to keep up with the latest developments that are going on in the world of Google, Facebook or Apple, but rather to improve and investing in myself and create a PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) in order to achieve bigger goals in life. I also realized how often i got caught up in discussions, gossips and rumors of all kind where everyone is trying to show off with knowledge that was picked up somewhere (myself included) that doesn’t improves anybody’s life or bring you somewhere.
One of the books I was reading lately, that I can also highly recommend, is the “Miracle Morning” by El Halrod. This book is a quick read, but it transformed the way I think about achieving goals and improving myself to reach a Level 10 life. One of the things that stucked in my head, is that the level of your success (in any area of your life), depends on the level of your personal growth and your mindset. This was a great enlightenment and inspired me to work more on myself.
The thing is, we all know or heard about this before: If you want to be successful, you should create a plan with short term and long term goals and stick to it.
The problem is the “…stick to it” – Part. In order to stick to a plan, it requires to change habits or create new ones.
So this year, will be all about personal development and creating new habits and eliminate bad ones in order to achieve a Level 10 Life and pick up speed in the future to fulfil my dreams.
Here are 4 simple things I will work on and that might help for you as well:
Taking advantage of the early Morning
“I’m so tired. Enough work for today, Iet’s watch a movie.” – this is probably what everyone is thinking after a busy day at work. Therefore I will try to get things done before most of the people even wake up.
My goal is to create a habit of getting up early in the morning and do things that i won’t have time for during the day or after work:
- Learning new things
Increase Health & Fitness
It is hard to stay motivated and generate energy if you body and mind is weak. I’m more conscious about nutrition lately and will try to keep up the habit of eating less meat and feeding my body with healthier nutrition to stay energized.
Minimum Workout: 4 times a week + more vegetables and fruits.
Avoiding Blogs & News
In a world of information overload it is hard for us to keep focus. Furthermore it is hard to stay creative. Why? The more information you absorb, the more intelligent you get (depends on information) but it also limits you in your thinking and makes your brain work less. Why do kids ask so many creative questions when they are small but are getting less creative when they go to school?
I try to stay away from absorbing too many news that are not necessary for my personal development and are just a waste of time.
If there is something really important that everyone needs to know, then you will hear other people talking about it anyway.

Avoid Negative Energy
This one is simple: No gossips, spreading rumors or talking bad about people. Not that I’m doing this on a regular basis but I will stay away from it as much as possible.
The reason should be clear: it doesnt benefit any human being in any way. It only creates negative energy and suspicion that damages your positive mental attitude (PMA) and more importantly other people. I rather spent my time and energy on more important things.
